Huntsville Foundation Repair FAQ
Straight answers with sources.
Foundation questions from Huntsville homeowners
Is this a foundation repair company?
No. Rocket City Foundation Repair is a referral service. We pass your request to an independent local foundation contractor, who may pay us for the referral. We do not inspect, quote or perform work.
Do foundation contractors in Alabama need a license?
The Alabama Home Builders Licensure Board requires a licensed home builder for residential repair or improvement work over $10,000, and its rules effective March 17, 2025 treat structural work as needing an unlimited license. Check any contractor on the HBLB website before signing.
Why do so many Huntsville homes have foundation cracks?
Much of the Tennessee Valley sits on red clay weathered from limestone. The clay changes volume as it wets and dries, which moves footings and slabs a little each season. Most hairline cracks are cosmetic. Cracks that widen, step, or sit out of plane are worth an evaluation.
Are sinkholes a real risk in Huntsville?
North Alabama is karst country. The Geological Survey of Alabama says many areas of north Alabama are underlain by limestone susceptible to dissolution, caves and sinkholes. Most foundation problems here are clay movement, but a sudden yard depression should be evaluated before any repair.
How much does foundation repair cost in Huntsville?
No reliable Huntsville-only price data is published. HomeAdvisor's 2026 national guide puts the average at about $5,175, with most jobs between $2,225 and $8,133, and piers at $1,000 to $3,000 each. See our cost guide for details.
Should I hire a structural engineer first?
For anything beyond a cosmetic crack, an independent engineer's report gives you a repair plan that is not tied to a contractor's sales. HomeAdvisor lists inspection reports at $340 to $780 nationally.
Will homeowners insurance pay for foundation repair?
Standard policies usually exclude settlement and earth movement. Sinkhole coverage varies by policy and may be an add-on. Read your policy or ask your agent before assuming either way.
What happens after I submit the form?
Your request goes to us and is shared with one independent local contractor who serves your area, who will contact you about your request. We do not add you to marketing lists.
